Robert Alvin Kaylor(pictured above with wife Annie Mae) was born in Catawba County North Carolina in 1889. He was the son of David Kaylor and Sarah Patton (pictured below) and the grandson of Henry Kaylor and Elizabeth Herman. Alvin was a carpenter, and during the late 1920's while working on the City Hall of Hickory he fell through an elevator shaft and fractured his spine. The accident left him paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of his life. In 1908 he had married Annie Mae Killian. Annie Mae, born in Catawba County in 1888, was the daughter of Sylvanus Killian and Candace Baker and the grandaugher of Civil War veteran, Elijah Killian. She was also a descendant of the early Catawba County pioneer, Andreas Killian. Alvin and Annie Mae had seven children who reached adulthood: Homer, Vernon,(known as Bud), Clarence(known as Slim), Kathyrn, Maude, Pauline and Donald(known as Jack). Bud was killed in a plane crash during World War II. Alvin Kaylor died in 1947 and Annie Mae in 1961. This site features numerous images of Alvin and Annie Mae and their children and grandchildren. Hello, my name is John (Jack) Kaylor. My 3rd great grandfather moved from North Carolina to Tazewell, Tennessee in the early 1800's I'm wondering if you have taken the Ancestry DNA test? I'm not sure but I believe that we could be related. Do you know where the Kaylor's came from in Germany?
